Kimberlyn Penrose Plum is a Houston based multimedia artist who works primarily with found, repurposed and reclaimed materials. Using the mediums of painting and pyrography, Plum creates delicately interwoven images drawn from human and animal anatomy, entomology, botany, iconography and engraved illustrations. In her multimedia work, Kimberlyn often incorporates pyrography, painting, and hand drawn images on wood with elements of 2D and 3D collage. Throughout the work there is a juxtaposition of beauty and the grotesque. While influenced by folk art and tattoo house techniques, Kimberlyn’s work takes on its own tactile identity by experimenting with mixed media and non-conventional wood burning.
